FAQ

Planning a vacation, especially one that includes bicycling.  Here are some frequently asked questions.  If you don't see your questions or concerns addressed here please feel free to email or call us.

What is the best tour for me or my group?
> If you are interested in the most scenic area of Sedona and want the local commentary I would suggest the Scenic Byway
> If you want less traffic and ride cross bikes (there is a section of good dirt road) the Pioneer Pathway is really fun!
> If you are interested in a more adventurous ride and seeing the most of the red rocks, Red Rock Madness!
> If you are bringing your own bikes as get a real eyeful and a great workout Circle Sedona.
What should I wear?

If you are an avid cyclist just watch the weather and make your own judgment or shoot me an email.  Always remember the sun screen!

If you don't want to pack cycling gear then usually shorts, zip off pants, t-shirts, a windbreaker, and stiff soled shoes.  Layers are good not just for your tour but for your stay in Sedona.  A fanny pack or lightweight backpack for your camera and snacks is also a good idea.  We do offer cycling gloves for the tours.

Helmets and water bottles are included with your tour.  Also, since we meet at full service bike shop, Absolute Bikes, you can always pick up that item you forgot.

How old do my kids need to be to do the Pioneer Path Tour?

It's not so much the age of your child but their height and fitness.  Also, whether they are comfortable using hand brakes as opposed to pedal breaks.  The bikes for kids are also front suspension mountain bikes with 24 inch wheels: Specialized Hot Rock.  We also have Child bicycle trailers with pedals (attaches to the seat tube of the parents bike) and the Burley Encore - Kid Trailer

What level of rider am I?

Novice = Want to learn more about biking - haven't been a bike in awhile -

Intermediate = Ride (spin or elliptical) regularly - understand shifting techniques - Can average at least a 12 mph pace riding solo on the flats at sea level - have ridden in group rides - knowledgeable of traffic laws regarding bicycles.

Advanced = Same a Intermediate but faster pace in hilly terrain - use clipless pedals - have a cycling wardrobe larger than your casual clothing and you know who Bob Roll is. Just kidding.....

We talk about this issue when you make a reservation anyway, but this just give you a basic idea.
